Some of the goals the Dept. focuses on that qualify and raise the level of Faculty graduates, are: 1) Participation with other departments in graduating a multi-knowledge agricultural engineer who performs extension work. 2) Graduation of an agricultural engineer specialized in land reclamation and improving the productivity of cultivated lands. 3) Cooperating with research authorities in the implementation of projects or research that serve the surrounding environment. 4) Directing the research of postgraduate students to solve the problems that reach his knowledge through his relationship with the executive bodies. 5) To establish a specialized laboratory for practical and laboratory analyzes scientific consultations in the field of land reclamation, land improvement and land service. 6) To cooperate with the executive authorities, aims to develop a future plan for vertical and horizontal agricultural expansion and land conservation. 7) To cooperate with other departments, especially agricultural engineering, crops and orchards, by developing practical recommendations in the field of water conservation in irrigation, as well as rationalizing the use of fertilizers to reduce production costs as well as reduce environmental pollution. 8) Teaching theoretical and practical courses in the field of land and environmental sciences. 9) Developing practical and applied skills for students through summer training and students' contact with institutions for land reclamation projects, especially in new areas. 10) Working on solving environmental problems in the field of land sciences in the Sharkia Governorate, through research projects and conducting the necessary research to increase and improve production and production capacity in the lands. 11) Conducting seminars and scientific conferences to publish research results and communicate them to producers. 12) Contributing to the analysis of land, water and fertilizer samples for farmers in the governorate and guiding them to the best ways to raise productivity. 13) Registering master's and doctoral degrees for distinguished graduates to raise and develop human skills and provides society with a distinct quality of doctorate holders

The mission of Soil and Water Dept. is to prepare a distinguished graduate with high skills in the field of Soil and Water sciences to serve the community and participate in the planning and implementation of agricultural projects, to be capable of meeting the needs of the labor market and competition locally and regionally

1) Take advantage of the department's human and scientific capabilities to strengthen cooperation with other research and executive bodies. 2) Developing the educational process by communicating modern trends in the field of land to students using modern laboratories and teaching equipment. 3) Upgrading the training of students in practice, provided that it extends to the different areas for reclamation. 4) Participation with other departments in the development and upgrading of the scientific level of the graduates of faculty. 5) Increasing the cohesion between the department and the executive authorities in the governorate to solve agricultural and environmental problems such as problems resulting from and excessive use of fertilizers and searching for new sources of fertilizers, as well as for irrigation water. 6) Conducting a seminar for graduate students on their research topics to follow up on the continuous scientific development. 7) Establishing a library in the department and supplying it with periodicals and books in the field of Soil and water sciences. 8) Take care of modern educational media, especially those that serve the field of Soil and water sciences. 9) Participation of members from the department in local and international conferences.
